The ruling on one who prays witr at the beginning of the night and wishes to stand in prayer at its end

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question: She has another inquiry in her letter, in which she says: Is the tahajjud prayer valid after the witr prayer, since I pray witr immediately after 'Isha' and then return again in the middle of the night to pray the tahajjud prayer? I have heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in which he says:
Make the last of your prayers at night a witr.آخر صلاتكم في الليل وترًا
, so please inform me about this, may Allah reward you?
The answer: Yes, the hadith is authentic. It was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim in the two Sahihs from the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Make Witr the end of your night prayer.اجعلوا آخر صلاتكم بالليل وترًا
Sahih Muslim 751b
.
Therefore, you should delay the witr to the end of the night, as long as, with the praise of Allah, you are accustomed to standing in prayer in the middle of the night; so the Sunnah for you is to delay the witr and make it after the tahajjud. If you have prayed the tahajjud as much as Allah has decreed for you, you pray the single rak'ah of witr before the dawn breaks. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The night prayer is (to be offered) two by two.صلاة الليل مثنى مثنى
Sunan Ibn Majah 1319Sahih (Darussalam)
meaning: two by two. If one of you fears the dawn, he prays a single rak'ah to make odd what he has already prayed. This is what is prescribed: that you pray what is easy for you of the night, two by two, and then when you finish the tahajjud, you pray a single rak'ah before the dawn to make odd what you have already prayed of the tahajjud.
But suppose you prayed witr at the beginning of the night and feared that you would not be able to get up at the end of the night, and then Allah made it easy for you to get up at the end of the night, in that case you pray what Allah has allotted for you of rak'ahs, and the first witr is sufficient, and there is no need to repeat the witr; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
There are no two Witr in one night.لا وتران في ليلة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 470Sahih (Darussalam)
. So if a person prays witr at the beginning of the night and then Allah makes it easy for him and he gets up at the end of the night, he prays what Allah has allotted for him, two rak'ahs or four rak'ahs or more, two by two, and the first witr is sufficient for him, and there is no need to repeat it; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited it by his saying:
There are no two Witr in one night.لا وتران في ليلة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 470Sahih (Darussalam)
. May Allah send blessings and peace upon him. Yes.
The presenter: But what about making the witr even, O Shaykh? Do you make the first witr even?
The answer: That opinion is weak, and the opinion that one should make the witr even with a rak'ah and then pray witr is a weak opinion. The correct view is that the first witr is sufficient and there is no need to make it even. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
