What is the ruling on delaying the 'Isha' prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
She has another inquiry in her letter, in which she asks: What is the ruling on delaying the 'Isha' prayer until six o'clock in the evening by solar time?
Answer: It is obligatory that the 'Isha' prayer be performed before the middle of the night, and it is not permissible to delay it until the middle of the night; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
the time for the night prayer is up to the midnightوقت صلاة العشاء إلى نصف الليل
Sahih Muslim 612e
. So you must pray it before the middle of the night, according to the rotation of the celestial sphere, for the night increases and decreases, and the criterion is the middle of the night in hours. If the night is ten hours, it is not permissible for you to delay it until five o'clock, and if the night is eleven hours, it is not permissible to delay it until five and a half... and so on. The best is for it to be in the first third, and whoever prays it at the beginning of its time, there is no harm in that, but if he delays it for some time, that is better. If he delays it from the beginning of its time by a little, that is the best; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to prefer to delay the 'Isha' prayer for some time, may peace and blessings be upon him. And whoever prays it at the beginning of its time after the setting of the twilight, which is the redness in the west, there is no harm in that, but delaying it in the mosques and elsewhere for some time is better. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
