Ruling on swearing an oath regarding a past matter

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
You say: A person swears an oath about a past event so that his companion understands from it something present. Is this permissible or not?
Answer: If he says, "By Allah, my brother, this happened," and he is truthful, or "By Allah, so-and-so traveled," or "By Allah, so-and-so gave me such-and-such," or "By Allah, so-and-so did not give me such-and-such," or "By Allah, so-and-so is sick," or "By Allah, so-and-so is dead," then there is no blame on him if he is truthful; there is no harm in that. If he is lying, he must repent. This is called a *yamin ghumus*. If he is lying, he must repent because he has committed a sin. If he is truthful, he owes nothing.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
