Machine translationRead the Arabic original
I ask you to guide me to the names of good books that discuss the stories of the prophets and the stories of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them)?
Answer: First, I guide you to focus on the Great Qur'an, for it is the greatest of stories and the best of stories. He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said regarding it: [Yusuf:3]. It contains stories about the prophets and their nations, and about the people of good and evil. It is the greatest book, the best book, and the most truthful book. So I advise you greatly to focus on the Qur'an, to be diligent in reciting it frequently and reflecting on its meanings. After that, among the best books in this field is (Zad al-Ma'ad) by Ibn al-Qayyim regarding the guidance of the best of people, and the first volumes of Ibn Kathir's history regarding the stories of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his news and the news of the Companions. His entire book (al-Bidaya wa al-Nihaya) is good; it is all good. There is also a concise book by al-Suyuti titled (Tarikh al-Khulafa') which has good benefit. I also advise you to memorize the book "al-Tawhid" by Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, (al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, (al-Usul al-Thalathah) by Shaykh Muhammad, (Kashf al-Shubuhat), and (Adab al-Mashy ila al-Salah). They are all beneficial books. I also advise you to read (Fath al-Majid Sharh Kitab al-Tawhid), for it is a good and beneficial book. May Allah guide them all. Yes.
