The Shaykh’s remarks on the effect of outward matters on the human heart, and the student’s remarks on the effect of da'wah in society

The Shaykh : The people, Muslims and others, do not connect the outward with the inward, nor the inward with the outward. They do not realize that the outward has an effect on the inward. For example, a house that contains pictures; they never think that these pictures have a spiritual effect on the hearts without them realizing it. And the reverse is the reverse: a house in which the name of Allah is mentioned, prayer is performed, and a place is designated for prayer—all these outward matters have an effect on the inward heart. Therefore, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 1377Sahih (Darussalam).
The student : By Allah, O our Shaykh, may Allah reward you with good... We have benefited from you, by the grace of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and we convey this to some people who have knowledge, not that they lack it, but they find it strange. They say, "Indeed, they are more deserving of this." From where do we say that we are from the Shaykh? We do not praise what we do not attain. Subhan Allah al-Azim, this contains great good. Indeed, I have faith in Allah. Some of the young men do not grasp the matter, so they take things simply. Do you see? No, by Allah, the young men, I see that they have a great impact. Yesterday my son Ibrahim told me, "I came to the mosque to talk with me. The boy is eloquent and was riding with me in the car. He said to me, 'Yesterday I went to the mosque and found the congregation had finished. This is his wording: I found the congregation had finished, so I came to pray alone. A man said to me, "There is a group here, go pray with them." I said to him, "No, I am praying alone; I do not pray with the second group because I did not pray with the first group." He said to me, "O my son, you do not know how to pray; pray with them." He said to him, "No, I know how to pray." I left him and went to pray behind the pillar alone." Allah Akbar, believe me.
The Shaykh : Greater than great.
The student : Ah, I mean, Subhan Allah al-Azim. Then, moving the finger is not like this, this, this—hitting it down and up, down and up. The movement must be forward and immediate.
The Shaykh : What Allah willed.
The student : He is telling his brother like this... I have not finished saying Subhan Allah al-Azim. How do the young men absorb this? And then, in our society, everyone talks... everyone talks about the beard. He said, "The beard should not be less than a fist nor more than a fist. I extend my hand like this and hold it like this. What is added from here, I cut it, and what remains, remains." I said: Subhan Allah al-Azim.
Do not make your houses into graves.
