The Ruling on the Basmala in the Middle of Surat al-Tawbah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If one recites from the middle of Surat al-Tawbah, does he say the Basmala, O Shaykh?
Answer: After al-Fatihah, he does not need to say the Basmala if it is after al-Fatihah. As for outside of prayer, if he recites, he seeks refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan, beginning with the seeking of refuge in al-Baqarah and in the verses, he begins with the seeking of refuge. If he says the Basmala in al-Baqarah other than at the beginning, there is no harm. As for at the beginning of al-Baqarah, the recommended practice is only the seeking of refuge.
The presenter: And in the middle of it, there is no harm?
The Shaykh: If he says the Basmala, there is no harm, and the seeking of refuge is sufficient.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
