Ruling on raising one's voice at a parent to stop them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message reached the program from North Yemen—wasab al-'ali—sent by one of the brothers who called himself Professor: Ali 'Abd al-Hamid al-Wa'ili, and he is eighteen years old. He says: My father is a righteous man, but he has one flaw, which is that at times he shouts words that may not be pleasant, either to us or to people, so I stop him with words that bring him back to the right path, and my words with him do not go beyond the bounds of proper conduct, then I soften him until he returns to the right path. If I soften him gently and he does not return, is this forbidden for me? I have clarified the question for you.
Give me a ruling, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
What is prescribed for you is gentleness, and it is not permissible for you to stop him or raise your voice at him, but you should advise him gently and with good manners regarding the slips that occur from him, or raising his voice in an inappropriate place.
As for stopping him and being harsh, this is forbidden for you; it is not permissible for you, even if your intention is good. It is not permissible for you to raise your voice at your father, nor at your mother, and it is not permissible for you to stop them or be harsh with them. Allah the Exalted said in His great Book:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
[Al-Isra 17:23]
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy, and say: My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small. [Al-Isra: 23, 24].
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah’s pleasure results from the parent’s pleasure, and Allah’s displeasure results from the parent’s displeasure.رضا الله في رضا الوالدين، وسخط الله في سخط الوالدين
Bulugh al-Maram 16:21
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said when asked, "Which deeds are best?" He said:
Prayer at its prescribed timeالصلاة على وقتها
It was said: "Then what?" He said:
Dutifulness to parentsبر الوالدين
It was said: "Then what?" He said:
striving in the path of Allahالجهاد في سبيل الله
Sunan Abi Dawud 2486Hasan (Al-Albani)
So it is obligatory for you to be gentle with your parents, to be kind to them, not to raise your voice at them, and not to stop them or be harsh with them, may Allah correct you and bless you.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
