Ruling on a son raising his voice against his parents

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the brothers from Sudan, whose name is indicated by the letters (A. M. M), asks about that son who raises his voice against one of his parents. Is this considered undutifulness to parents?
Answer:
Yes, Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says:
And do not rebuke them.وَلا تَنْهَرْهُمَا
[Al-Isra: 23]. And "nahr" means raising the voice against them. Therefore, it is not permissible for him to raise his voice against them, nor to strike them, nor to harm them in any way, even to the extent of sighing at them or showing aversion to their smell. Rather, he must treat them with gentleness, lower his wing of humility to them, and speak to them with noble words, as Allah, the Exalted, said:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
[Al-Isra 17:23]
and lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy, and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small" [Al-Isra: 23-24].
And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) commanded kindness to parents in many places, and He said (Exalted and Majestic is He):
Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيْكَ إِلَيَّ الْمَصِيرُ
[Luqman: 14]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (peace and blessings be upon him): When asked which deed is best, he said: "
Prayer at its appointed timeلصلاة على وقتها
" It was said: "Then what, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "
Dutifulness to parentsبر الوالدين
" It was said: "Then what, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "
striving in the path of Allahلجهاد في سبيل الله
Sunan Abi Dawud 2486Hasan (Al-Albani)
" So, being dutiful to parents is among the most important matters, and undutifulness to them is among the ugliest of sins and major sins. Raising the voice against them is undutifulness and a major sin, whether the raising of the voice is to ask for something, to prevent them from something, or for other reasons.
Therefore, it is obligatory for him to be polite with them and not to raise his voice for any reason, even if it is in disapproving of them. If he sees something wrong from them, he does not raise his voice; he addresses them in the best manner. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said regarding the disbelievers:
but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindnessوَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا
[Luqman: 15]. This is how the child is commanded to treat his disbelieving parents, so how much more so with Muslim parents?
So if he sees from them something he disapproves of, such as smoking, or intoxicants, or the like, he should be gentle with them and advise them, but without raising his voice. Yes.
