Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message arrived from the listener Anhar from the Arab Republic of Egypt, containing a collection of questions, among which is the following:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is this hadith authentic? And if it is authentic, please explain it to us.
May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
There is no harm with it, as far as we know, there is no harm with it, it is hasan, a good hadith.
And its meaning is: that there will come upon them from the calamities, trials, and fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) that harm and hurt them, such that he will be like one holding a coal, due to the intensity of his patience upon his religion and his faith and his steadfastness upon it, as if he is holding a coal due to the severity of the pains and hardships that befall him in that, at the time of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and the harm from the enemies, may Allah protect us from that.
And this is a reality. The sensible person, if he is afflicted with this, should be patient. How many have been afflicted with this in times of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), in wars, and in other matters, among those who passed before us and in our time.
So the conclusion is: that whoever is tested in any time, he must be patient. He may be tested by one who prevents him from prayer, or harms him when he prays. He may be tested by one who harms him when he fasts, so let him be patient. He should fast, even if secretly. If he is harmed in that, it does not harm him. And likewise, he should pray. Even if he is harmed, he should be patient and endure, and not leave the prayer. And so on. Allah is the One to be sought for help.
The presenter: And Allah is the Helper, may Allah reward you with good.

A time will come upon my Ummah (the Muslim community) in which the one who holds onto his religion will be like one holding a coal of fire.
يأتي زمان على أمتي القابض على دينه كالقابض على جمرة من النارMay Allah reward you with good.
