Ruling on traveling before the Friday prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first question of this episode is the remainder of the questions from one of our esteemed listeners who sent them to this program. This listener sent ten questions; we presented four of them in a previous episode, and in this episode, the rest remain. He asks and says: Due to my work circumstances, I travel on Friday before the adhan for Dhuhr, or after the adhan, and I perform the Dhuhr and Asr prayers combined as an early combination and shortened at the same time. Is this permissible? And is it permissible for me to delay?
Knowing that this happens once a month.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
If the travel is before the adhan—before the sun passes its zenith—there is no harm, if Allah wills. The best for you is not to travel until you have prayed Friday; that is the best for you. But if you travel before the time enters, there is no harm on you in that, and there is no harm in combining as long as the travel is a shortening journey, such as travel to al-Kharj, or Makkah, or al-Hawtah, or others. The point is: a distance of approximately eighty kilometers, meaning a day and a night for a mount previously, and now it is seventy or eighty kilometers. A distance approximating this is considered travel. But you should, my brother, strive to attend Friday prayer because of the great good and significant benefit in it, and so that you do not make this a habit, causing the heart to harden and care for this matter to decrease. So I advise you to strive against your soul until you pray Friday and then travel. But it is not obligatory for you if the travel is before the time of Friday, before the sun passes its zenith. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence the Shaykh. He says: He does this once a month?
The Shaykh: Whether once a month or once in two months, the ruling is the same. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah bless you.
