Ruling on Kissing the Cheeks During Handshaking
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
With Allah’s blessing, we begin this session with a message from one of the sisters. She asks: Is it permissible to shake hands on the cheeks, or is it permissible to shake hands with the hand?
May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
Handshaking is done with the hand, with the right hand, with the right hand of his brother, and likewise a woman with her sister; the right hand shakes the right hand. This is the handshaking prescribed by the Shari'ah.
As for kissing the cheek, it is not part of the Sunnah. The Sunnah is handshaking. If a man shakes hands with his mother or his grandmother, he may kiss her between her eyes, and there is nothing wrong with that. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
