Question:
With the blessing of Allah, we begin this session with the exegesis of the noble verse. The brother requests the exegesis of these verses: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan: [Al-Imran:18]?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
This noble verse is among the greatest verses regarding the affirmation of the oneness of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and the testimony that He, the Exalted, is the one worshipped in truth. It clarifies that He, (Exalted and Majestic is He), is a witness to Himself, and He is the greatest witness that there is no god but He. As He, (Exalted and Majestic is He), said: [Muhammad:19]. And He, the Exalted, said: [Al-Baqarah:163]. And He, the Exalted, said: [Al-Hajj:62]. In this verse—the verse of Al-Imran—it is stated that He, the Exalted, is the only god; the meaning is: there is no true god other than Him. There are many gods that the polytheists worship, such as idols, jinn, angels, trees, and others, but they are all false; they are all false gods. The true god is Allah alone (may He be exalted). Therefore, He, (Exalted and Majestic is He), said: [Al-Imran:18]. The noble angels also testified to this, and they are among the most just of witnesses. Those with knowledge also testified to this, who knew the truth and submitted to it; they are those with knowledge of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. They also testify to Allah's oneness.
This verse contains a great merit for the angels and for those with knowledge, in that Allah made them witnesses to His oneness, because they know it, and they are just. The angels are among the best of Allah's servants, as Allah, (Exalted and Majestic is He), said:[Al-Anbya 21:28] They do not precede Him in speech, and they act by His command. He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they do not intercede except for one whom He has approved, and they are fearful of Him. [Al-Anbiya:27-28]. They testify to their Lord that He is the true god (may He be exalted). Among them are Jibril, Mikail, and Israfil, and others. Likewise, those with knowledge from the past and the future, from the time of Adam (peace be upon him), and after him, from the messengers and scholars to our day, and until Allah takes the souls of the believers at the end of time, all scholars who knew the truth, studied the Book of Allah, and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), all of them testify that He, the Exalted, is the true god, and that He is the one worthy of worship, and that He is the only god, and there is no lord other than Him, (Exalted and Majestic is He). Yes.
