Fatwa No. ( 4745 ):
Q: Is the Prophet of Allah, 'Isa (peace be upon him), still alive to this day, or has he died like the other prophets? What prompted me to ask this question is that one of the scholars of Kenya issued a fatwa stating that 'Isa (peace be upon him) has died like the other prophets. He cited many pieces of evidence for this: he argued using verse 144 of Surat al-Imran, and verse 34 of Surat al-Anbiya. He also referred to page 79 of the third volume of [Sahih al-Bukhari ] in the interpretation of the Qur'anic term . The mufti said: This is the opinion of Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him), as found in [Majma' al-Buhar al-Anwar]. He also referred to pages 37–44 of the book [Nazarat fi al-Qur'an] by Muhammad al-Ghazali . Then the mufti said that what the Qur'an denies
The Qur'an is the statement that 'Isa was killed or crucified. This, and it is worth noting that this fatwa has been relied upon bythe Qadiyyahsince its issuance, as is the case inKenyaand the neighboring countries, in addition to the fact that I am deeply concerned about this; because I now believe in the life of 'Isa (peace be upon him) and that he will descend in the last of time. Please inform us, may Allah reward you?
A: The evidence from the Book and the Sunnah indicates that 'Isa (peace and blessings be upon him) was not killed, nor was he crucified, nor did he die; rather, he is alive until now. Allah the Exalted raised him to the heavens, and he will descend in the last of times, where he will break the cross, kill the pig, call to the truth, and the people will believe in him upon his descent, even the Jews and the Christians; as Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:157] , up to His saying: [An-Nisa 4:158-159] . And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَكِنْ شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ(158) Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. (159) And there is none from the People of the Scripture but that he will surely believe in Jesus before his death. And on the Day of Resurrection he will be against them a witness.
