The Ruling on a Woman Remaining in Her Husband's House After the End of the Waiting Period

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He also says: I had two wives, and I divorced one of them, and she remained in my house. The waiting period has ended, and she is still in the house; I see her and she sees me because she has children there. Is this permissible? What is the ruling in this matter?

Answer:
If the divorce was a revocable divorce of one or two pronouncements, you have the right to return to her through a new marriage. However, if the divorce was an irrevocable divorce, such as if you divorced her with the third of the three pronouncements, she is forbidden to you until she marries a husband other than you. In any case, after the waiting period, she must veil herself from you, even if the divorce was only one pronouncement. She must veil herself and not be alone with you, because she has become a stranger to you by exiting the waiting period, if it was a revocable divorce of one or two pronouncements.
As for if the divorce was an irrevocable divorce, such as if the pronouncement was the third of the three, she is forbidden to you from the time of the divorce. She has no right to be alone with you, nor do you have the right to be alone with her, nor to look at her. Rather, it is obligatory for both of you to be cautious, like a non-mahram man with a non-mahram woman.
As for her remaining with you in the house, this is subject to detail: If she is compelled to do so, and has a separate floor or a separate apartment, there is no harm in her remaining with her children, or you can rent a house for her to be in with her children. But in any case, do not be alone with her, and do not look at her, meaning: she must not uncover herself to you; rather, she must cover herself from you and veil herself, and you must not be alone with her, until Allah provides a way out and an exit, either by her marriage or by the availability of another house to which she can move. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
