Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: A person who goes out every day to his workplace in another city, which is more than one hundred kilometers from the city where he resides, and returns on the same day. Is it permissible for him to shorten and combine the prayers, and to break his fast in Ramadan? Please guide us. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is permissible for him to shorten the prayer on his way and at his place of work, because he is a traveler, provided he does not reside there and returns. However, he must not pray alone; he is obligated to pray with the congregation and complete the prayer.
As for if they are a group, they may pray shortened, and there is no harm. But if he is alone, he prays with the congregation and completes the prayer. It is not permissible for him to shorten, neither on the way nor in the city where he works, if he finds another person or more, so that they may pray in congregation. If the imam is a traveler, he shortens with him; if the imam completes, he completes with him. A person does not pray alone if there are other people who are completing the prayer; he must pray with them and complete. If he prays behind an imam who shortens on the way or in the city where he works, he shortens, and there is no harm, because shortening is prescribed for the traveler. Yes.
