The Ruling on Shaving the Hair of a Newborn

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on shaving the hair of a newborn?

Answer:
The Sunnah is to shave the hair on the seventh day, if it is a boy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every boy is mortgaged by his ‘Aqiqah, so slaughter for him on the seventh day, and shave his head, and name him.كل غلام مرتهنٌ بعقيقته، تذبح عنه يوم السابع، ويحلق، ويسمى
Sunan Ibn Majah 3165Hasan (Darussalam)
. So the Sunnah is to shave the hair on the seventh day, to name the child on the seventh day, and to perform the 'aqiqah sacrifice for him. If it is a boy, the sacrifice is two sheep; if it is a girl, it is one. As for shaving, it is specific to the boy.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
