Is shaving the newborn's head on the seventh day a recommended practice?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh: What is the recommended practice regarding a newborn? We hear of various recommended practices, but we do not know their authenticity.

The Shaykh : What have you heard?

The questioner : Shaving his head.

The Shaykh : Shaving the boy's head on the seventh day is a recommended practice (sunnah). A hadith was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He shaves the head and gives in charity its weight in silver. يحلق ويتصدق بوزنه ورقاً
meaning: silver. However, this is on the condition that there is a skilled barber who does not cut the head and does not cause any harm to the child. If no such person is found, I think it is better not to shave, but rather to give in charity an amount of silver equal to the weight of the hair.
