Ruling on Reciting the Qur'an Without Ritual Purity for Students and Teachers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the listener Mahmoud al-Faki al-Nur from Sudan, a message containing three questions. In one of them, he asks: Is it permissible for students in school to recite the Qur'an without ritual purity during their studies? And is it permissible for the teacher to teach them while he is in that state as well?

Answer:
There is no blame on them if it is not from the mushaf, such as if they recite from memory; there is no blame on them reciting while they are not in a state of ritual purity. The teacher is the same; if he is teaching them from memory and not from the mushaf, there is no blame on him teaching them while not in a state of ritual purity, provided he is not in a state of major ritual impurity, and they are not in a state of major ritual impurity either. As for the one in a state of major ritual impurity, no. He has no right to recite or teach the Qur'an while in a state of major ritual impurity. Likewise, the student has no right to recite while in a state of major ritual impurity, absolutely.
As for minor ritual purity, it is not a condition for recitation. There is nothing wrong with reciting while not in a state of minor ritual purity, and there is nothing wrong with teaching as well, but not from the mushaf. As for from the mushaf, ritual purity is necessary. One does not touch the mushaf except while in a state of both purities: major and minor. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
