Question:
A letter reached the program from one of the brothers, whose name is Muhammad Fadl Allah Abd al-Qadir, a Sudanese from al-Duwaym. Our brother has a collection of questions, and we can present this one: We have an imam who prays with us, but he does not recite in the Friday prayer except al-Ghashiyah and al-A'la. Is this practice valid? And is there any advice for the imams regarding this? May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh: Repeat the question:
The presenter: He says: We have an imam who prays with us, but he does not recite in the Friday prayer except al-Ghashiyah and al-A'la. Is this valid? And is there any advice for him and the other imams? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
This is a recommended practice (sunnah). This action is a recommended practice (sunnah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited (Subhan asmi Rabbika al-A'la) in the first rak'ah of the Friday prayer and recited al-Ghashiyah. However, consistently doing so is something that should not be done. Rather, he should recite other surahs at times, such as al-Jumu'ah and al-Munafiqun, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also recited with them in the Friday prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) recited al-Jumu'ah and al-Munafiqun in the two rak'ahs after al-Fatihah, and he recited Subhan and al-Ghashiyah in the two rak'ahs, and he also recited al-Jumu'ah and Hal ataka hadith al-Ghashiyah. So what is preserved from him (peace and blessings be upon him) are three forms, meaning: three types:
The first type: Subhan in the first and al-Ghashiyah in the second, after al-Fatihah.
The second type: al-Jumu'ah in the first and al-Munafiqun in the second.
The third type: al-Jumu'ah in the first and al-Ghashiyah in the second. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and benefit you with your knowledge.
