How to Wipe Over the Socks During the Ablution for Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the last of this questioner’s questions, he asks: Is it valid to wipe the feet during the ablution for prayer from behind the socks?

Answer:
You wipe over them. The recommended practice is to wipe over them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wipe over his leather socks, on their outer surface only. As for wiping the heels and the bottom of the sock, this is not correct; it is based on a weak report.
The correct view is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wipe over the outside of his leather socks, as Abu Dawud narrated with a good chain from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
I have seen the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wiping over the upper part of his shoesكان النبي يمسح على ظاهر خفيه
Sunan Abi Dawud 162Sahih (Al-Albani)
(peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
