The ruling on the claim that a menstruating woman is forbidden from touching flowers and henna

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter signed by a woman from the South (A. H. A.). Our sister has a set of questions. In her question, she says: We have some elderly women who say: If a woman menstruates, it is forbidden for her to touch certain types of flowers and the henna plant. Is this statement correct?

Answer:
It is not correct. She is like any other woman; she may touch flowers, she may touch the henna plant, and she may do other things that are permissible for women. However, she does not pray until she becomes pure, and she does not fast until she becomes pure. Also, she does not touch the mushaf until she becomes pure.
As for reciting the Qur'an from memory, there is scholarly disagreement on this. The correct view is that there is no blame on her for reciting from memory. She is not like one in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), whose duration is short; he takes a full ritual bath (ghusl) as soon as he is done relieving himself. As for the menstruating woman and the woman with post-natal bleeding, their durations are longer, so there is no blame on them for reciting from memory without touching the mushaf, according to the stronger of the two opinions of the scholars.
As for the menstruating woman touching flowers, or touching the henna plant, or touching anything else that people touch which is permissible, such as touching grains, fruits, milk, or other things, there is no blame in that. Yes.
