The Ruling on the Hadith: (When one of your ears rings, let him remember me...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the female listeners sent a message saying: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. To the honorable Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, may Allah’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you. I am one of the good listeners of the program *Nur 'ala al-Darb* (Light on the Path), and it has benefited me greatly. May Allah reward you with good for benefiting the listeners, and may Allah prolong your life and make you a storehouse for Islam and the Muslims.
Then she asks your eminence, saying: My question is: What is the authenticity of this hadith: "When one of your ears rings, let him remember me, let him send blessings upon me, and let him say: 'Remembering Allah is better than remembering me'?" What is the intended meaning of this? May Allah reward you with good? Does it include both ears together, or just one ear? May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.

Answer:
This hadith has no basis. When the ear rings, it has no basis, and nothing is prescribed when it rings, neither remembering the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor remembering anyone else. The ringing of the ear is a normal occurrence that has no specific remembrance, and no remembrance is prescribed for it. This hadith has no basis: "When one of your ears rings, let him remember me." The point is that this hadith is fabricated and false, with no basis. There is no prescribed remembrance when the ear rings. May Allah guide them all.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
