The second: Remembrance and its opposite, forgetfulness; if a person eats or drinks while forgetting, he owes nothing,because of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [al-Baqarah: 286] So Allah the Exalted said: I have done so.
and for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) specifically regarding this matter: (Whoever forgets while fasting and eats or drinks, let him complete his fast, for it is Allah who has fed him and given him drink), but it is obligatory for him to stop once the excuse is gone. If he knows, he must abstain, and if he remembers, he must abstain, even if a mouthful of food or a sip of water is in his mouth, he must spit it out,For example: if he eats thinking the sun has set, but then he sees it,We say: he must stop, even if a mouthful of food or a date is in his mouth, he must remove it; because the excuse is gone.
