What is the ruling on burning the mushaf?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on burning the mushaf?

Answer:
This requires a detailed explanation:
If it is burned because of a defect in it, because its printing is defective and alters the Qur'an, and verses have been inserted into verses, or if it has torn, then there is nothing wrong with burning it. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) burned the mushafs that he saw it was obligatory not to keep, for they are either burned or buried in good earth.
As for burning the Qur'an wantonly while it is intact, that is not permissible. If it is intact, it is not permissible, because it is the destruction of wealth without right.
And if it is burned as an insult to it, and out of arrogance in following it, and with the intention of doing so, then this is apostasy from Islam—may Allah protect us—and major shirk—may Allah protect us.
