The first question of fatwa number ( 3916 ):
Q1: Is it permissible for us to burn newspapers after reading them, and is it permissible to burn the pages of the Noble Qur'an that we find in the streets?
A1: Yes, it is permissible to burn newspaper pages to protect any Qur'anic verse, Prophetic hadith, or similar matter that may be contained in them, which must be respected. It is also permissible to burn the pages of the mushaf to protect them from desecration and to preserve their sanctity. You may also protect them from desecration by burying them in clean earth. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
