The questioner : Shaykh Muhammad, those who call for women to go out and say that they are wasted energy, how do we respond to them?
The Shaykh : We say: The truth is that if they say this, they are currently seeking to render her useless. A woman’s concern and work are in her home. So if she goes out to the market, the home is rendered useless, and if the home is rendered useless, that is the wasting of energy. If the woman is in her home and the man is in his shop, every person is content with what he has, and comfort is achieved for both the man and the woman.
And glory to Allah, where is the tenderness of motherhood? That a woman goes to her work and leaves her small children, both girls and boys, to be raised by a woman who may be deficient in religion, deficient in intellect, deficient in honor, and does not know the characteristics of the society?
So these children are raised on what this servant raises them on, and the entire society changes. And perhaps the servant is not Muslim, so she raises them on the traits of disbelief. We do not know!
We ask Allah the Exalted to reform our people, and to reform our rulers, and to grant them a righteous inner circle that guides them to good and encourages them to it, and clarifies evil to them and warns them against it. Indeed, He is capable of all things. O Allah, appoint our best people as our leaders and protect us from the evil of our worst people.
