What is the creed of the Murji'ah? And what is its ruling?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the creed of the Murji'ah? And what is its impact on society?

Answer:
It has been mentioned to us that the Murji'ah are divided into categories:
Some of them hold that faith is merely speech: such as the Karramiyyah.
And some of them hold that it is merely knowledge: such as the Jahmiyyah.
And some of them hold that it is speech and affirmation: such as the Murji'ah of the jurists—as al-Tahawi mentioned in his creed—and all of it is wrong, and all of it is erroneous.
The correct position, which is that of the people of the Sunnah and the community, is that faith is speech and action: speech of the heart and tongue, and action of the heart and limbs—as previously mentioned—it increases with obedience and decreases with disobedience. This is the statement of the people of the Sunnah, and it is what the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) indicate, as He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said in His clear Book:
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.
[al-Baqarah:177], making all of this truth, all of it actions, all of it faith, all of it piety, and there are many verses regarding this.
Among them is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the delegation of Abd al-Qays:
I command you to believe in Allah
, then he explained that by the testimony that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the prayer, giving zakah, fasting Ramadan, and paying the khums. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Faith has over seventy branches or over sixty branches, the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but Allah, and the humblest of which is the, removal of what is injurious from the path: and modesty is a branch of faith.
Sahih Muslim 35b

So it is speech and action, as previously mentioned: speech of the heart and tongue, and action of the heart and limbs, increasing with obedience and decreasing with disobedience, as previously mentioned.
