The Ruling on the Companionship of One Who Abandons Prayer

Question:
Our sister says: She knows one of the women, and she discovered that she does not pray except in Ramadan, and she asks: Should she continue with her as a friend, or should she cut off ties with her?
Answer:
It is obligatory to advise her, teach her what benefits her, and make her understand that prayer is an obligatory duty permanently, in Ramadan and in other times, and that it is the pillar of Islam, and that it is obligatory for the accountable woman to pray it, and to maintain it like the man, in Ramadan or in other times, and that abandoning it in other than Ramadan is major shirk (associating partners with Allah) — we seek refuge in Allah — as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam) It was narrated by Imam Ahmad and the people of the Sunan with a sound chain, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2616Hasan (Darussalam).
So prayer is the pillar of Islam, and its greatest pillar after the two testimonies, so the one who does not pray is like the man who does not pray, exactly the same, both are disbelievers, until they repent to Allah, and return from their bad deed, so if Allah guides her, and she responds to you; and repents to Allah, then there is no barrier to taking her as a friend, and remaining in her companionship.
As for if she persists in abandoning prayer, she is a disbeliever; and it is obligatory for you to be hostile to her for the sake of Allah, and to cut off ties with her, and not to approach her at all, do not respond to her invitation, and do not invite her to visit you, and if she visits you, do not meet her, and do not greet her, until she returns from what she is upon of falsehood, and until she repents to Allah ; because her deed is great, great in its enormity, great in its evil, her deed is disbelief — we ask Allah for well-being and safety — and the Muslim’s obligatory duty is to advise his brothers in Allah, and his sisters in Allah, so if she does not accept the advice, and does not benefit from the advice; then cutting off ties is obligatory, we ask Allah for guidance for us and for her, and we ask Allah for success for you in advising her.
The presenter: O Allah, amen.

The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.
العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة، فمن تركها فقد كفرThe head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is the Salat, and its hump is Jihad
رأس الأمر الإسلام، وعموده الصلاة، وذروة سنامه الجهاد في سبيل اللهSo prayer is the pillar of Islam, and its greatest pillar after the two testimonies, so the one who does not pray is like the man who does not pray, exactly the same, both are disbelievers, until they repent to Allah, and return from their bad deed, so if Allah guides her, and she responds to you; and repents to Allah, then there is no barrier to taking her as a friend, and remaining in her companionship.
