The Ruling on Circumambulating Graves and Shrines

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence, the question is about those who travel to graves and circumambulate them, and hold celebrations, and the like?

Answer:
His answer is as previously stated: those who turn to graves, whether the graves are in their own land or in other lands they travel to in order to ask them, or seek aid from them, or circumambulate their graves, calling upon them and asking them for their needs—all of this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). They have likened their graves to the Sacred Ka'bah and directed their worship to them instead of Allah.And Allah the Exalted says in His great Book:
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth
[al-Bayyinah:5] And He the Exalted says:
It is You we worship and You we ask for help.
[al-Fatihah:5] And He says::
So worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.
[Az-Zumar 39:2]
Know that to Allah alone belongs pure worship.[al-Zumar:2-3] And He the Exalted says:
So invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it.
[Ghafir:14] And He says::
so do not invoke with Allah anyone.
[al-Jinn:18] up to such noble verses.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
Supplication is worship
So the one who calls upon the dead, or trees, or stones, or graves has associated partners with Allah.Likewise, if he seeks aid from them, or circumambulates their graves asking them for his needs, or does something similar, or worships through circumambulation to draw near to them, all of this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). We ask Allah for safety. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He benefit us with your knowledge.

The Shaykh: We hope for that.
