The Ruling on Treating Oneself with Forbidden Substances Such as Narcotics and Smoking
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
... and that my wife used to smoke a hookah, which we call the qaddu in our area, but Allah accepted her repentance ...... but we did not obtain a cure, and there was no benefit from it. So, is it permissible for her to return to this hookah or smoke the qaddu again? To clarify further: do we bear sin if she returns to what she was doing, and she believes that her illness is due to her leaving it? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
She must not return to it, and you must not assist her in doing so. Praise be to Allah who guided her and bestowed upon her the gift of repentance. Even if it is one of the causes, she must not return to it, nor treat herself with what is forbidden. One does not treat oneself with what is forbidden. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:. So she should be patient, ask Allah for well-being, and strive in that. She has the glad tidings of good. We ask Allah for her immediate healing and well-being from what has befallen her.
We advise you to take care of her treatment with specialized doctors for such conditions. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) will heal her, Glorified is He, and bestow well-being upon her. She has a great reward for her patience in obedience to Allah and His fear . You are also thanked for encouraging her patience, urging her to remain steadfast and patient, and striving for what will bring her healing and well-being from this effect that has harmed her. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) is the Wise and the All-Knowing in this; He tests her patience and tests her faith. So she should be patient and be patient in the sense of enduring. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) will help her and make her steadfast. He says : [Muhammad:31], and Allah says, Exalted and Majestic is He: [Al-Anbiya:35].
So she should be patient, and this is a trial and a test. So she should be patient. Perhaps this illness is not because of that, but rather it is a new matter, a new illness. But Satan may make it attractive to her that it is due to the leaving of it. So it is not permissible for her, and it is not allowed for her, to obey Satan, nor to return to what Allah has saved her from and guided her to leave.
And we ask Allah for her, once again, well-being and healing from what has befallen her, and that He accept her repentance and make her steadfast.
