The Superiority of Praying in the First Row over the Other Rows

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our brother asks a second question and says: Does praying in the first row in the mosque have any virtue over the other rows, or over the back row? Guide us, may Allah benefit you.

Answer:
Yes, the first row is better; for this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If people knew what was in the adhan and the first row of the prayer and could only draw lots for it, they would draw lots.لو يعلم الناس ما في النداء والصف الأول ثم لم يجدوا إلا أن يستهموا عليه لاستهموا
Muwatta Malik 3:3
, meaning: let them draw lots. It has a great virtue, and it was reported in some hadiths that he will have a reward like that of those behind him in the rows. He will have his reward, which is prior to that of others, and he will have a reward like that of those behind him; because he is like their leader, and like their imam. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.من دل على خير فله مثل أجر فاعله
Sahih Muslim 1893a
.
So the first row has a reward like that of those behind him, in addition to the reward that Allah has written for him (Glorified and Exalted is He). This is a great virtue, and because of the racing to do good, and the hastening to obedience, and the closeness to the imam so that one can see his movements if the voice is cut off, or if the voice is weak; for he sees and observes the imam and is close to him.
So the result is that the first row has a great virtue, because of the racing to do good, and the hastening to obedience, and encouraging people to do so, and motivating them to do so. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
