The Ruling on Transgression in Supplication

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on transgression in supplication, and how does it occur?

Answer:
... and this is not acceptable. Oppression is a wrong and is absolutely forbidden, so how much more so in supplication?
The point is that some people may transgress in supplication by using a method that Allah has not prescribed, such as seeking nearness through illegitimate means, by the status of so-and-so, or by the right of so-and-so, or by another method that is not prescribed, such as seeking nearness through the names of devils or through talismans that are unknown, or the like of that which the Shari'ah does not approve. This is transgression in supplication. Or one may curse someone who does not deserve to be cursed, such as cursing one's relatives or one's Muslim brother without right; this is also transgression in supplication.
Some scholars have said that transgression includes raising one's voice in supplication without need. Lowering the voice is part of the prescribed supplication and the Sunnah in supplication, and it should be between you and Allah (Mighty and Majestic). This is the best, as Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors.ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ
[Al-A'raf: 55]. Therefore, keeping it low is required in supplication, and it should be a secret between you and Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) , except for what Allah has prescribed to be raised and made clear, such as the supplication in the qunut of the witr prayer and the qunut for calamities. There is no harm in raising one's voice for these, as Allah has prescribed raising the voice for them.
Likewise, the supplication that follows the prayer, such as seeking forgiveness: "I seek forgiveness from Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah," because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his voice with it so that people would know and learn this supplication that Allah has prescribed, and He has prescribed raising the voice for it. This is an exception and is not included in transgression. As for the rest of the supplications that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise his voice with, and for which he did not prescribe raising the voice for people, the Sunnah for the believer is to supplicate with them in secret between himself and his Lord, and it is not prescribed for him to raise his voice with them.
Thus, the believer should do so, and he should fear that if he raises his voice with them, it will be considered transgression, unless the supplications are those in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his voice, such as what was mentioned earlier: the supplication of the qunut in the witr, the supplication of the qunut for calamities, and the supplication he says when he concludes the prayer: "I seek forgiveness from Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah," when he concludes the obligatory prayer. This is something the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his voice with. Also,
O Allah, help me in remembering You, in giving You thanks, and worshipping You well.اللهم أعني على ذكرك وشكرك وحسن عبادتك
Sunan Abi Dawud 1522Sahih (Al-Albani)
, if he says it after the salam, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught it to Mu'adh, so it follows the dhikr. If he raises his voice with it so that those around him know it and are reminded of it, there is no harm in that. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and benefit through you.
