Does cleaning children and the resulting touching of their private parts invalidate the ablution, and does a man touching his penis without desire invalidate the ablution?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Does cleaning children and the resulting touching of their private parts invalidate the ablution, and does a man touching his penis without desire invalidate the ablution?

The Shaykh : Yes, washing children does not invalidate the ablution, even if a woman touches her son's penis or her daughter's front or back private part. Likewise, if a person touches his penis without desire, his ablution is not invalidated. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the hadith of Talq ibn 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), when he asked about a man touching his penis during prayer, "Does he need to perform ablution?" He said:
No. لا
. Then he said:
it is only a part of your body إنما هو بضعة منك
Bulugh al-Maram 72
, meaning any part of your body. This reasoning is a reasoning that cannot be removed because he reasoned that it is a part of the limbs. Furthermore, his reasoning that it is a part of the limbs indicates that if he touches it for desire, he must perform ablution, because touching it for desire is a specific touching of the organ, namely the penis. A person cannot touch his leg for desire, nor his thigh for desire, nor his ear for desire; desire is only in the penis itself.
In conclusion, the stronger opinion among the scholars' views on this issue is: if he touches it for desire, he must perform ablution; and if it is without desire, he does not have to, whether he did it intentionally or unintentionally.
