What is the method of ritual purity and prayer for the sick and those with valid excuses?

Question:
This questioner says: This is a question from a patient, as if he wants to know about his own situation. He says: I attend the hospital three days a week because I suffer from kidney failure, and I attend sessions on a machine to break up blood clots. However, I miss the 'Asr prayer, as I do not finish my treatment until an hour and a half after the 'Asr prayer, and the seating chair is in a position facing away from the qiblah.
The question is: Do I pray in any direction, or do I pray it after the time has passed? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.

Answer:
Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says: :
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[Surat al-Taghabun: 16]. So if you are a patient for whom it is difficult to perform every prayer at its time, combine them before entering the procedure if it harms you, so you combine 'Asr with Zuhr by advancing it.
And if you were healthy before, but it is only for the sake of the procedure, then there is no harm in delaying the prayer and performing it after the procedure. So if you are unable to perform it during the procedure, you delay it, and there is no blame on you for that.
As for after the procedure, you must pray according to your condition: standing, sitting, on your side, or lying on your back, according to your ability:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'Imran ibn Husayn, who was ill:
offer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your sideصلِّ قائمًا، فإن لم تستطع فقاعدًا، فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنبٍ، فإن لم تستطع فمُسْتَلْقِيًا
Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
But when you enter the procedure, you are in the status of a patient, so there is no harm in advancing the 'Asr prayer with Zuhr if entering the procedure is after Zuhr. If it is before Zuhr, you delay Zuhr with 'Asr. When you finish, you pray them after the procedure ends, and after you are able to do so, even if it is in the time of 'Asr, even if the sun has turned yellow:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[Surat al-Taghabun: 16], unless you are able in the time to pray it before the sun turns yellow, then pray it even by gesturing, even if you are on your side, or lying down. You say takbir and recite, you say takbir and intend the bowing, you intend the rising and say: "Allah hears the one who praises Him," you intend the prostration and say: "Allah is the Greatest," and you say: "Glory to my Lord, the Most High," you intend the rising and say takbir and say: "My Lord, forgive me, My Lord, forgive me," you say takbir and go down to the second prostration and say: "Allah is the Greatest," and you glorify: "Glory to my Lord, the Most High," and so on you complete it if you can. As for if your sensation is not with you and you cannot, then delay it until the procedure ends and your sensation returns to you.
Also, regarding the observation of wudu': every patient must fear Allah and observe wudu'. If he can perform wudu', he performs it, or someone else performs it for him, washing his face and hands, wiping his head, and washing his feet. As for what comes out, such as cleaning oneself after relieving oneself, urination, and defecation, this is done by wiping himself with tissues three times or more, and this suffices for the water coming from the anus and the urine with pure tissues, wiping if he can, or the nurse wipes it if he cannot, and this suffices for the water. As for wudu', if he can do it himself, he performs wudu' for himself, otherwise someone else performs it for him: washing his face and forearms, wiping his head and ears, washing his feet if he can. If that is not feasible, he performs tayammum, and earth should be placed for him under the chair.
We previously wrote to the Minister of Health and it was circulated to the hospitals that they must have a little fine earth in a bag or in a dish under the chair, a little fine earth to wipe with, so he strikes with his hands or brings it close and strikes with his hands and wipes his face and palms. And so the military hospital here and others must observe this, so that the patient has what satisfies his need if he cannot use water, so that there is a vessel with good, fine earth, or a bag that is opened for him at prayer time, so he strikes with his hands and then wipes his face and palms, or the one in charge of him says to him while he strikes the earth, and wipes his face and palms, and the patient intends, and this substitutes for him in wiping his face and palms, with the patient's intention, and this takes the place of purification with water.
As for the anus and the front, this is as mentioned before, wiping with tissues three times or more, and this suffices for istinja'.
