Ruling on taking money in exchange for lawful ruqyah for the sick

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man recites over the sick using the Qur'an and the Prophetic supplications, and before the recitation he specifies the amount of money he will take from the patient. What is your opinion, may Allah reward you, on this?

Answer:
There is nothing wrong with that if he recites whatever is easy of the Qur'an, supplicates for them with the supplications, and blows on the patient. There is nothing wrong with him specifying the fee that is due to him.
This is similar to what happened to some of the Companions with a person who had been bitten by a venomous creature. They had stayed with him, but he did not host them. So they came to him asking for someone to perform ruqyah for this patient. They said, "We will not do it unless you give us a share." So they gave them a portion of a flock of sheep. They performed the ruqyah until Allah cured him, and they gave them the same fee. They reported this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he approved of it.
