The first question of Fatwa No. ( 3189 ):
Q1: What is the ruling on ruqyah and amulets?
A1: Ruqyah is prescribed if it is done with the Qur'an, with the beautiful names of Allah, with the prescribed supplications, and with what is of their meaning, while believing that they are causes, and that the One who owns harm and benefit and healing is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He); because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 3886Sahih (Al-Albani) , and he performed ruqyah and ruqyah was performed on him (peace and blessings be upon him). As for the ruqyah that is prohibited, it is the ruqyah that contradicts what we have mentioned, as the scholars have explicitly stated. As for hanging amulets, it is not permissible, whether they are from
the Qur'an or from anything else; due to the generality of the hadiths that have come regarding that. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
