Ruling on the Removal of Hair from the Hands and Legs for Women
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
At the beginning of our meeting, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz, we return to the letter of our sister Umm Ahmad from the Noble City of Makkah. We presented part of her questions in a previous episode, and now we are returning to her in this episode to ask this question: There are those who object to cleaning the legs and hands of the hair present on them. If this is for the husband, is the ruling the same?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: I do not know of any harm in removing the hair from the legs and hands; because this is a matter about which silence is maintained. It was reported in a hadith from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sunan ad-Daraqutni 9:164.
As for plucking the eyebrows and the hair of the face, this is what was prohibited in the hadiths cursing the one who plucks her eyebrows and the one who has her eyebrows plucked.
The scholars of language said that *namis* means: removing the hair of the eyebrows and the face. This is what is prohibited, except if something appears on the face that causes disfigurement and deformity, such as a mustache for a woman or a beard for a woman; then there is no harm in removing it. As for the ordinary hair on the face and the hair of the eyebrows, this is not removed; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): and its removal is considered *namis*. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.

What Allah has remained silent about is a source of well-being, so accept from Allah His well-being.
