Does he own obscene video tapes? Is it permissible to sell them?

Here is a message sent by one of the brothers, Hamid Farhan from Jeddah. Our brother says: A man repented to Allah and he has a video and obscene movie tapes. Is it permissible for him to sell them? If it is not permissible to sell them, what should he do with them? And is it permissible to record sermons, programs, and useful scenes on them?
Answer: Yes, he should record on them what benefits him, and this wipes out the falsehood in them. He should record the good on them. The people of expertise have mentioned that if he records on them something other than what is on them, the falsehood in them is wiped out. So if he records the good on them, he benefits from them, and praise be to Allah.
As for selling them, it is not permissible to sell them while they are in their bad state. Yes.
