The ruling on dyeing the hair of the head and the beard with black and other colors

Our sister asks a question and says: Some men dye their beards, and when the discussion turns to that, some justify it by saying that it is not pure black, but rather leans toward purple or green. What is your opinion on that?
Answer: Dyeing white hair is a recommended practice (sunnah) that one is commanded to do. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So the recommended practice for a man when he grows white hair, and for a woman likewise, is to change the white hair to red or yellow, and so on, to anything between red and black; because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): As for black, it is not permissible. Pure black is not for a man to change his white hair with, nor is it for a woman to change her white hair with, if it is pure black. But if it is black with some red in it, not pure, there is no harm in that. So the man and the woman should be careful in this matter and should avoid what Allah has forbidden . Authentic hadiths have come from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibiting dyeing with black. Among them is what came in the hadith of Ibn Abbas in Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i with a sound chain, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: This is a severe warning. And in the story of al-Siddiq, when his father Muslim was brought to him and his head and beard were as white as a thaghamah (a type of plant), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So it is obligatory for both men and women to avoid black. But if the black is not pure, but mixed with henna until it becomes between red and black, there is nothing wrong with it. Yes.
