Details of the Ruling on Imported Meats

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
We begin with a message from a listener from the outskirts of al-Kharj. He says in his message—the listener, and he wrote his name in... but it is not very clear—he says: He is from the outskirts of the city of al-Kharj. He says in his message: Is the meat of chickens and sheep imported from abroad lawful or forbidden, with mention of the evidence if found, may Allah guide you?
Answer: ... As for what follows: There is a detail regarding these imported meats: If they are from the lands of the People of the Book, such as the Jews and the Christians, it is lawful for us, like what is imported from France, England, America, Denmark, and the like; because Allah has made lawful for us the food of the People of the Book, where He said (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for themوَطَعَامُ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ حِلٌّ لَكُمْ وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَهُمْ
[al-Ma'idah: 5], and their food is their slaughtered animals. Allah has made lawful for us their food, which is their slaughtered animals, and the scholars have agreed upon this. So, what comes from the lands of the People of the Book, who are the Jews and the Christians, is lawful for us, except if we know that it was slaughtered in a manner contrary to the Shari'ah, such as being slaughtered by strangling or stunning. This is not lawful, like the slaughter of a Muslim who slaughters by strangling or stunning; it is not lawful. But as long as we are unaware of that, the original ruling is permissibility. As long as we do not know that it was slaughtered in a manner contrary to the Shari'ah, the original ruling is that it is lawful, like the slaughter of a Muslim. As for the other slaughters that come from communist or polytheistic countries, like India, or communist countries like Bulgaria and the Soviet Union, these are not lawful, except if we know that a Muslim or a Person of the Book slaughtered them. If we know that, there is no harm. And if we do not know, the original ruling is the prohibition of their slaughters, ....... the prohibition of the slaughters of the polytheists and the prohibition of the slaughters of the atheists, the slaughters of the atheist communists. It is necessary to distinguish and detail. Yes.
