The following message was received by the program from Kuwait - Al-Salimiyah - and its sender is our brother Khalid Muhammad Manahi. Our brother has two questions:
His first question says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I hope you will inform me about the authenticity of this hadith, and if it is authentic: Is infertility - i.e., the inability to have children - considered an expiation for the sins of the children of Adam, since infertility is a source of sadness for a person due to the absence of children, and Allah has made children and wealth among the adornments of worldly life? I hope you will guide me. May Allah reward you with good?
Answer: Yes, this hadith is authentic. Muslim narrated it in his Sahih. It is among the blessings and favors of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, that whatever befalls a servant of worry, grief, hardship, pain, or harm, even a thorn he is pricked by, Allah expiates his sins thereby. There is no doubt that infertility is among the calamities, so it is something by which sins are expiated. Infertility is a calamity that saddens the servant and harms the servant, and Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, expiates sins and evil deeds thereby, just as He expiates them through worry, sadness, pain, and hardship, and the like. In fact, it is greater than many calamities. So if the servant reckons it as a reward and is patient with it and hopes for the reward with Allah, he will have much good with Allah. Yes.
