The Meaning of the Hadith: (Treat Women with Kindness...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Our sister asks and says regarding the hadith:
Treat women with kindness, for the woman was created from a crooked rib, and the most crooked part of the rib is its top...
to the end of the hadith, please clarify the meaning of the hadith, along with clarifying: what is the most crooked part of the rib, the top?
Answer: This is an authentic hadith narrated by the two Shaykhs in the two Sahihs, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Treat women with kindness
This is obligatory for men, including fathers, brothers, and husbands, to fear Allah regarding women and to give them their rights. This is the obligation; therefore, he said:
Treat women with kindness
, and it should not be prevented by the fact that she may wrong her husband or her relatives with her tongue or otherwise; because they were created from a rib as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and the most crooked part of the rib is its top, and it is known that its top is what is near the root of the rib, for the rib has a crookedness, this is what is known about it. So the meaning is: that there must be some crookedness and deficiency in her creation. Therefore, in another hadith in the two Sahihs:
I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.
Sahih al-Bukhari 304
, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) made it clear that they are deficient in intellect and religion, and even if they are not pleased with that in most cases, they dislike to hear this statement except from one whom Allah has guided and given success. So the intended meaning is that this is the ruling of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is established in the two Sahihs from the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him).
And the meaning of the deficiency in intellect, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, is that the testimony of one of them is half that of a man, so two women are equal to one man. This is from the deficiency in intellect. And from the deficiency in religion, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
She remains for days and nights not praying
, meaning: because of menstruation, and likewise in post-natal bleeding. And this is a deficiency that Allah has decreed for her, so she should acknowledge that. And this is not prevented by the fact that some of them have skill, knowledge, and insight. But that does not prevent the existence of the deficiency. So however much she reaches in knowledge, and however much she reaches in intelligence and insight, this deficiency is necessary for her. This is a deficiency that must be there. So the testimony of two women is equal to one man, and likewise what befalls her of menstruation and post-natal bleeding is a reality. It should be for the woman to know her place, and to stand at her limit, and to ask Allah for success, and to strive in good. As for attempting to oppose the Shari'ah in what Allah and His Messenger have decreed, this is an error on her part and a deficiency upon her, and it is also from her deficiency. And Allah is the One to be sought for help. Yes.
