Zakah is calculated at the price at the end of the lunar year

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The following message was received by the program from Sudan, and its sender is our brother Babakir Adam Sulayman. Our brother has a set of questions. His first question says: If I have goods and I am a merchant, and the price of the goods is fixed, for example, at one hundred pounds, and after the passage of the lunar year the price of the goods in the market becomes two hundred pounds, meaning double, how do I pay zakah? Do I pay zakah based on its original price of one hundred pounds, or based on its second price after the passage of the lunar year, which is two hundred pounds?
Answer: It is obligatory for one who has capital for trade, for buying and selling, to consider its price at the completion of the lunar year, not its price at the beginning of the lunar year, nor during the lunar year, nor its cost price. Rather, its price at the completion of the lunar year is what is considered. So if it was worth one hundred thousand in the middle of the lunar year or at the beginning of the lunar year, or if he bought it for one hundred thousand, but at the completion of the lunar year it became worth two hundred thousand or three hundred thousand, then he pays zakah on the latter, on its price at the completion of the lunar year. Yes.
