Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We know that the best of names are those that praise and worship, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, but there are those whose names are 'Abd al-Nabi and 'Abd al-Rasul, so what is the ruling on these names, as we know that a slave is a slave of Allah and not of anyone else?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment:
The questioner, may Allah guide him, said: We know that the best of names are those that praise and worship, and then he cited as evidence what he attributed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that the best of names are those that praise and worship.
So I say: This knowledge is incorrect; it is not the case that the best of names are those that praise and worship.
Second: Attributing that to the Messenger of Allah, that he said: "The best of names are those that praise and worship," is also incorrect, and a great error, because this hadith is fabricated; it is not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and it is not permissible to attribute it to him (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Rather, he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
The names dearest to Allah are Abdullah and AbdurRahman, the truest are Harith and Hammam أحب الأسماء إلى الله : عبد الله وعبد الرحمن، وأصدقها حارث وهمام
Sunan Abi Dawud 4950
.
And based on this, we say: What is attributed to Allah or to al-Rahman is the most beloved of names to Allah, 'Abd Allah and 'Abd al-Rahman, then what is attributed to any of the names of Allah, such as 'Abd al-Rahim, 'Abd al-Wahhab, 'Abd al-'Aziz, 'Abd al-Latif, 'Abd al-Khabir, 'Abd al-Basir, and the like.
As for 'Abd al-Nabi, 'Abd al-Rasul, 'Abd Jibril, and 'Abd so-and-so or so-and-so, this is forbidden. Ibn Hazm said: "May Allah have mercy on him, they agreed on the prohibition of every name that worships other than Allah, except 'Abd al-Muttalib".
I am the Prophet without lie, I am the son of 'Abdul-Muttalib. أنا النبي لا كذب ، أنا ابن عبد المطلب
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1688Sahih (Darussalam)
. But some scholars forbade 'Abd al-Muttalib and said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said that as a statement of fact, not as a command to change the name, so he is 'Abd al-Muttalib because his grandfather was named that, and it is not possible to change it, so it is a statement of fact, not a command. And based on this, it is not permissible for anyone to be named 'Abd al-Muttalib, and this is a strong position with no doubt in its strength.
And based on this, I say: If you, my brother, want to name your son, name him with the best of names, and the most beloved of names to Allah, if you find a way to do so: 'Abd Allah, 'Abd al-Rahman, 'Abd al-Rahim, 'Abd al-'Aziz, 'Abd al-Wahhab, 'Abd al-Sami', 'Abd al-Latif, 'Abd al-Basir, 'Abd al-Hakim, and so on.
