Ruling on a woman wearing a tight garment that reveals her private parts

The second question is from the listener Umm Abdullah from Riyadh. She says: If a woman wears a garment that reveals the contours of her body, such as her back and shoulders and what follows them, is it forbidden or permissible? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: If the garment is tight and reveals the size of her limbs and her private parts, it is not permissible. However, if it is moderate, covering her body and not revealing the size of her limbs, there is nothing wrong with it. It must also be covering and thick, not thin; because thin fabric reveals the private parts, showing the color of the flesh, such as redness and whiteness, and the like. Therefore, it must be thick, covering, and somewhat loose, not tight in a way that reveals the size of her limbs and her private parts and the like. Rather, it should be moderate in all matters, neither too loose nor too tight, and thick rather than thin, covering the body. And Allah knows best.
