Question:
A paper came from Sudan bearing the signatures of some of the brothers, and it contained some questions:
First: Is it correct for us to say to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), "Our master Muhammad," and likewise for Ali and Uthman?
Answer:
Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the master of the children of Adam. He said:Sunan Ibn Majah 4308Sahih (Darussalam) (peace and blessings be upon him), and he is the master of the first and the last - (peace and blessings be upon him) - and there is nothing wrong with this; rather, this is one of his rights - (peace and blessings be upon him) - and one of his descriptions - (peace and blessings be upon him) - but when some of the Companions said to him, "O our master!" he rebuked them and said: Sunan Abi Dawud 4806Sahih (Al-Albani) out of fear for them of exaggeration, when they addressed him thus, saying, "O our master," he feared for them of exaggeration, and he said: Sunan Abi Dawud 4806Sahih (Al-Albani).
So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) feared for them of exaggeration and rebuked them when they addressed him, then he said afterwards - (peace and blessings be upon him) - as in the authentic hadiths:Sunan Ibn Majah 4308Sahih (Darussalam) The reconciliation between the two is that his saying "The master is Allah - (Blessed and Exalted is He) -" and his rebuking them is from the perspective of blocking the means to harm, from the perspective of protecting the sanctity of the oneness of Allah from shirk (associating partners with Allah) and its means, or he said this before he knew that he was the master of the children of Adam - (peace and blessings be upon him) - before the revelation came to him regarding that, and the master in the absolute sense is Allah - (Exalted and Majestic is He) - because He is the owner of affairs - (Exalted and Majestic is He) - and their disposer. And the master among the Arabs is the chief and the noble one.
Question: In the hadith:?
Answer: He said it to the Ansar meaning Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, and he said about his son al-Hasan: "My son here is a master." This is not a problem, but if a person is addressed with it and says, "O our master," it is better to say, "The master is Allah - (Blessed and Exalted is He) -" so that he does not fall into exaggeration, and so that he does not fall into pride in himself.
Question: Some people say: "O my master, O Messenger of Allah?"
Answer: As for supplication, no, "O my master, O Messenger of Allah," calling upon him and seeking aid from him, this is shirk (associating partners with Allah), as happens with some people: "O my master, O Messenger of Allah, help me," or "aid me," or "heal my sick one," or "O Messenger of Allah, you know what is upon us of division and disagreement, so aid us, send down upon us tranquility, destroy our enemy." This is shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah, we seek refuge in Allah.
So this is not said except with Allah; Allah is the One who is called upon and from whom aid is sought. So the one who says, "O Messenger of Allah," or "O our master, O Messenger of Allah, help us, aid us," or says, "O my master al-Badawi," or "O my master Abdul Qadir," or "O my master so-and-so" of the dead, calling upon them and seeking aid from them, this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), we seek refuge in Allah. And this happens with some people during some of the Mawlid celebrations, when celebrating the Mawlid, some of these acts of shirk (associating partners with Allah) occur from them, we seek refuge in Allah.
And Allah the Exalted is the One who is called upon; because Allah said: [Surah al-Jinn: 18] So no angel is called upon, nor a prophet, nor a tree, nor a stone, nor a grave, nor an idol, nor a star. It is not said: "O my master, O Messenger of Allah," or "O my master, Abu Bakr," or "O my master, Umar," or "O my master, Ali," or "O Uthman, aid us," or "heal our sick," or "return our absent one," or "defeat our enemy." This is not said, but it is sought from Allah So seeking aid and healing from the created beings is from the perspective of shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah .
And this happens with some people in their poems and their verses, as al-Busiri said in his famous Burdah:
O most noble of creation, to whom shall I take refuge
other than You when the general calamity befalls
Meaning on the Day of Resurrection, no one has anyone to take refuge in except the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). He forgot Allah completely, we seek refuge in Allah.
If you are not in the Hereafter taking my hand
out of favor, then say, "O slip of the foot."
For from Your generosity is the world and its counterpart
And from Your knowledge is the knowledge of the Tablet and the Pen
So he made the knowledge of the Messenger, the knowledge of the Preserved Tablet and the Pen, meaning that he knows the unseen, and he made his generosity encompass this world and the Hereafter. This is among the greatest of shirk (associating partners with Allah) and among the most vile of shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah And despite this, some people take it as their dhikr (remembrance of Allah), reading it instead of dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and they bring it in the Mawlid celebrations, appreciating it and honoring it, affirming what is in it of affliction and shirk (associating partners with Allah) - we seek refuge in Allah - all of this is from the great shirk (associating partners with Allah).
Question: Is there anything wrong with the word "master"?
Answer: There is nothing wrong with it. "Master of so-and-so," the Messenger of Allah is our master, or Umar is our master, the Siddiq is our master, there is nothing wrong with it. The reprehensible thing is to call upon him besides Allah, or to seek aid from him, or to make a vow to him, or what is similar to that.

Answer:
Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the master of the children of Adam. He said:
I am the leader of the sons of Adam, and it is no boast
أنا سيد ولد آدم، ولا فخرThe lord is Allah, the Blessed and Exalted
السيد الله تبارك وتعالىNarrated Abdullah ibn ash-Shikhkhir: I went with a deputation of Banu Amir to the apostle of Allah (ﷺ), and we said: You are our lord (sayyid). To this he replied: The lord is Allah, the Blessed and Exalted. Then we said: And the one of us most endowed with excellence and superiority. To this he replied: Say what you have to say, or part of what you have to say, and do not let the devil make you his agents.
السيد الله تبارك وتعالى، فقولوا بقولكم، أو بعض قولكم، ولا يستجرينكم الشيطانSo the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) feared for them of exaggeration and rebuked them when they addressed him, then he said afterwards - (peace and blessings be upon him) - as in the authentic hadiths:
I am the leader of the sons of Adam, and it is no boast
