If one misses the first congregation but strives to catch it, the reward of it is recorded for him.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah. I mean, say, "We never miss the first congregational prayer." And if we do miss it—and this is a very important point, I hope the brothers pay attention to it—if we miss it while being eager to perform the first congregational prayer, we will not miss its virtue. That is the conclusion of a short statement. That is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever performs ablution in his home and perfects his ablution, then goes to the mosque of the congregation and finds that they have already prayed, Allah records for him the like of the reward of their prayer, without anything being deducted from their rewards. مَن توضَّأ في بيته وأحسن وضوءه ، ثم أتى مسجد الجماعة ووجدهم قد صلُّوا ؛ كتب الله له مثل أجر صلاتهم ؛ دون أن ينقص من أجورهم شيء
; so this eagerness to perform the first congregational prayer means its rewards are recorded for him even if he missed it, because he was eager to perform it with the first congregation. Now, please proceed.
The student : May Allah reward you with good.
Another student : We want to do this method, if you allow, we will make a circle, two circles like this, because of the large number.

The Shaykh : ... You have done well.
The student : Abdullah, please proceed... .
Another student : ... O brothers.

The Shaykh : This is what happened.
