How do we reconcile the hadith (Whoever performs wudu in his home and perfects his wudu, then goes to the mosque of the congregation and finds that they have already prayed, Allah writes for him the same reward as their prayer without diminishing anything from their rewards)

The Shaykh : And we now resume with a new question. What is its text in your view?

The questioner : Its text is that the scholars differed on the issue of when a person catches the congregational prayer.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : As you know, is it by the prostration, or by a rak'ah, or by something of it, as you heard once from me?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : And you are now saying that even if he did not catch it.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : Meaning he catches its reward.

The Shaykh : Yes, I do not say it that way. I say it this way: the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So you, therefore, should make your question: How do we reconcile?

The questioner : How do we reconcile?

The Shaykh : Between this and that.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : The answer is known to the scholars and students of knowledge. His saying (peace and blessings be upon him), narrated in "the two Sahihs":
Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says to His angels: If My servant intends a good deed and does not do it, then write it for him as one good deed. And if he does it, then write it for him as ten good deeds, up to a hundred good deeds, up to seven hundred, up to many times over, and Allah multiplies for whom He wills.
.

The questioner : By Allah, my Shaykh, if you would permit, repeat the hadith because it got cut off.

The Shaykh : In the hadith narrated by the two Shaykhs in "their Sahih," from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) says to His angels: If My servant intends a good deed and does not do it, then write it for him as one good deed. And if he does it, then write it for him as ten good deeds, up to a hundred good deeds, up to seven hundred, up to many times over, and Allah multiplies for whom He wills. And if My servant intends an evil deed and does not do it, then do not write anything for him.
, in another narration in "Sahih Muslim":
but does not do it, then write a good deed (in his account)
Sahih al-Bukhari 7501
,
If My servant intends an evil deed and does not do it, then write it for him as one good deed.
Sahih Ibn Hibban 6:75
; why? He said (peace and blessings be upon him), so that you know the difference between the two narrations. The first narration says:
If My servant intends an evil deed and does not do it, then do not write anything for him.
Sahih Ibn Hibban 6:75
, the other narration says:
then write it for him as one good deed.
, he intended an evil deed, but he did not do it. The second narration says:
write it for him as one good deed.
; why? The answer:
for he only left it because of Me.
, Allah says that this one who intended the evil deed and did not do it, write it for him as a good deed because he left it out of fear of Allah. As for the first narration
do not write anything for him.
, it is from the category of "And among protection is that you do not find." One person thought to go to the cinema, for example, he reached for his pocket, he did not find money, he did not go to the cinema, no evil deed was written for him because he did not do it, he did not go to the cinema. But another person reached for his pocket and found it, then he remembered his Lord, so he feared and left it, and his intention of the evil deed was written as a good deed. Thus, when we know this reality, we must always and forever remember that good deeds are multiplied. It varies from ten to seven hundred to many times over, and Allah multiplies for whom He wills. When we remembered the hadith and arranged that whoever is keen to maintain the congregational prayer, the first congregation only, no other, as it is said, and then for a reason that occurred to him which he did not intend, as came in your first question.
