Refutation of the claim that gold is forbidden for women and that Hajj is only Tamattu'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is gold forbidden, as Shaykh Al-Albani states in his book *The Etiquette of the Wedding*, and also regarding Hajj, he says: The rituals of Hajj are one, which is Tamattu'?

Answer:
No, that is a mistake. It is permissible based on the hadith. It is permissible for women. Consensus has been reported on this by a group of scholars, such as al-Bayhaqi, al-Nawawi, al-Jassas, and others. As for some narrated hadiths that suggest prohibition, they are abrogated. Therefore, gold is lawful for women, like silk, and it is forbidden for men.
Likewise, regarding the issue of Hajj, the types of Hajj are three: Qiran, Tamattu', and Ifrad (performing Hajj alone). However, Tamattu' is the best. As for Ifrad and Qiran, they are permissible. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the Companions to break their state of consecration for an apparent wisdom: to break their state of consecration and make it an 'Umrah. This was because the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance used to deny 'Umrah in the months of Hajj and considered it one of the most sinful acts. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to break their state of consecration and make it an 'Umrah, and he said: "If I had not brought sacrificial animals, I would have broken my state of consecration with you." This was to make clear to people the virtue of 'Umrah. Hajj was not abrogated by him (peace and blessings be upon him). Therefore, Hajj remains, and Qiran remains. For this reason, the Companions performed it after him, and they are the most knowledgeable people about it. Abu Bakr performed Ifrad, 'Umar performed Ifrad, and 'Uthman performed Ifrad (may Allah be pleased with them all). Ali performed Qiran between Hajj and 'Umrah during the time of 'Uthman. And so the Companions did. But Tamattu' is the best.
As for the claim that Hajj is abrogated and that no type of ritual is valid except Tamattu', this is a mistake with no basis. It contradicts the consensus of the Muslims. All scholars have agreed that the types of rituals are three: Qiran, Tamattu', and Ifrad, according to all scholars. Therefore, whoever claims that Hajj is abrogated and that it no longer exists, that is a mistake.
