Ruling on engraving a woman's name on the wedding ring in weddings

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is the custom in some Islamic countries for a man to present a jewelry set to his bride upon marrying her, which includes a ring, one for the man and one for the woman, and her name is engraved on the ring. Is this imitating the Jews?

Answer:
It is not befitting for a believer to imitate the enemies of Allah. It is not befitting for the people of faith to imitate the enemies of Allah. Therefore, whatever is a custom of the enemies of Allah, it is not befitting for the people of faith to imitate it, neither in the ring nor in anything else.
It is not permissible for a man to wear the ring they call the "dublah" (wedding ring) if it is made of gold, because gold is forbidden for men. Gold rings are forbidden for men. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited gold rings. When he saw a man with a gold ring on his hand, he took it off and threw it away—(peace and blessings be upon him)—and said:
One of you is wishing live coal from Hell. and putting it on his hand.يعمد أحدكم إلى جمرة من نار، فيضعها في يده
Sahih Muslim 2090
This indicates the prohibition of gold rings and that they are among the major sins, because there is a threat of the Fire in them. It is not befitting to imitate the enemies of Allah, neither in weddings nor in anything else. It is not befitting to write the woman's name on his ring; rather, he should write his own name, not his wife's name on his ring. This is imitating the enemies of Allah, and it is not permissible. This is a descent, weakness, and falling short. There is no power and no strength except with Allah.
